At one point in my life I thought I’d grow up to live in a New York City loft, dance on Broadway and build my Bethenny Frankel-style empire – so I still chuckle sometimes to think that I’m reviewing events called “Summer Nights in Suburbia”.

To give credit where credit is due – Lexingtonians have done an awesome job in creating a culture of live events and festivals since we’ve been gone. We live on the south end of town (as some like to say… “outside the circle”) and I always forget about the MoonDance at Midnight Pass Amphitheater right in our backyard. With a 10-month old baby at home – I wouldn’t exactly describe our family as spontaneous at the current moment – but last Friday we decided on a whim to head over to MoonDance to check out the live music.
Here’s a snapshot:

FREE (cha-ching)

BYOE (bring your own everything – booz, food, seating/blankets)

Roomy: The event starts at 7pm and we got there around 6:45pm. We spread out on two picnic blankets and had room to spare. It started to get more crowded around 8-8:30 – but let’s be honest – who can stay up that late anymore..?

Clean Restrooms: Not porta potties, actual bathrooms with multiple stalls

Parking: Stress free parking, we parked on the road right next to the amphitheater, about a 3-5 minute walk

Food Vendors: It looks like it changes up every Friday night. Last week – DaRae & Friends Catering, the week before – Red State BBQ. From what I saw, no drinks for purchase – so bring a cooler.

Overall, it was a really fun, relaxed event for our little family; we enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new friends.

The series runs every Friday night now through Labor day weekend. Here’s a link for more info: MoonDance at Midnight Pass Amphitheater
So take that New York – you’ve got nothing on Lex.
